which I would guess dates to the mid 19th century or so

I am terrible at identifying woods but believe it is cherry

from the slightly drooping rose at its center to the buoyant lilac that you can just about smell

I believe both the painting and the frame are late 19th c. or so, and of course I like it for its navet, I'd think most likely done by a schoolgirl. Framed: 5 7 16" x 5 1 2".
